2025 — Will be a Sabbatical Year for Saint Julian Press.
We will resume submissions in early 2026.
Saint Julian Press, an independent literary press and educational organization, envisions creating a local and global community by fostering an artistic dialogue that promotes world peace through cross-cultural and interfaith conversations. We operate as a not-for-profit organization that reinvests any annual earnings back into the press. In our mission as a new creative imprint, we aim to identify, encourage, nurture, and share transformative art and literature from both past and present masters. While providing emerging artists, poets, and writers with a place to come home to and share their work, it celebrates the enduring mystery within creation that draws us into relationships with one another.
Saint Julian Press has one annual reading period, typically from the beginning of January to the end of February each year. In the past, we have accepted some submissions throughout the year, but it has become increasingly difficult to do so and publish new books. Please look here for future announcements on when submissions open again. It is not unusual for us to receive recommendations from other poets, writers, and professors working in the academic world. In 2025, Saint Julian Press will take a sabbatical and will not be accepting any new submissions. We will resume submission in early 2026.
Saint Julian Press follows an environmentally friendly Print-on-Demand (POD) publishing model that works intimately with each artist and author. With a few rare exceptions, Ingram Content Group acts as the global marketing and distribution partner for all the books published by Saint Julian Press, with nearly sixty titles now in print.
If asked, we will waive reading fees for graduate students, emerging artists, and academics who need financial assistance. Due to considerable ongoing business and publication expenses, unless a reading fee is waived, Saint Julian Press charges a non-refundable $50 reading and editorial review fee for full-length collections (55-120 pages). Any manuscripts or books over 120 pages should be submitted for an $80 fee.
Please note that we will waive the reading fee upon request, especially when financial assistance is required. If this is the case, you need only ask.
The fees are in place to help us discern the sincerity of any submission; we are looking for quality submissions, not quantity. After an initial acknowledgment, please expect a response time of eight to twelve weeks overall. It simply takes time to hold several conversations in place, especially when new books are in the works. As a not-for-profit organization, reading fees and contributions also help us meet our annual operating expenses.
Publishing any book is an art in the highest sense of the word. This is a creative partnership between the editor/editors and the artists, poets, and writers who sincerely wish to work with Saint Julian Press. Saint Julian Press book publications involve a highly selective review and editorial team process, where we work closely with authors whose books we have accepted for publication and treasure. Ultimately, this is an artistic and literary endeavor, one we undertake together for the pure pleasure of great art and writing that will help transform our world.
The publication of any book involves an editor who works closely from beginning to end on the acceptance, preparation, and marketing of a new book. It involves reviewing and editing a book's interior content, internal layout, and cover design before publication.
Please send your reading fee via the PayPal Button right below or by check, if you wish, to the address at the end of this page. We also accept Zelle and Venmo; please don't hesitate to contact us if you prefer to submit a reading fee or make a contribution via these methods. If you are an undergraduate or graduate student, an emerging author, or an academic who would like to ask for a waiver on these fees, please email the address at the bottom of this page.
Please submit any book submissions for consideration via the email link below. We are seeking poetry that is well-written, engaging, possesses a great literary style and potential, values all human diversity, and reflects our core mission and vision. Please go to the Saint Julian Press homepage to learn more if you haven’t already. Order a book or two to understand the diversity of those authors/books we've published.
As we learn about new and emerging writers/poets from our creative partners, they may be invited to make a book submission or serve as a guest author on the website. We strive to keep the process open and flexible. On an annual basis, we select and work closely with new emerging writers/poets to help sponsor and underwrite the cost to publish their first book of poetry or prose.
